NeuroQueer Accountability Group
you know what you need to do.
you can't seem to do it.
Executive dysfunction, focus challenges, burnout — whatever the reason, you're stuck. The advice you find assumes your brain works like everyone else's, and you end up trying to shove your You-shaped peg into a Them-shaped hole. Trying to do it alone means there's nothing to hold you when motivation disappears, enthusiasm wanes, or you hit a wall. you need support that actually gets how your brain works.
-
Tell yourself to start and then beat yourself up for not starting
Spend 2 hours researching the perfect system instead of doing the actual task
Get overwhelmed by how much there is to do and do nothing instead
Lose track of time completely (it's been 20 minutes or 3 hours, who knows)
Have one bad day and convince yourself you've failed at everything
Can't tell if something is urgent or if your brain is just panicking
-
Show up because people expect you (external structure actually works)
Get help breaking "start the thing" into actual steps you can do
See other people struggle with the same patterns and see what tactics they’ve tried — would that work for you? do you hate it? good info to have!
Have someone notice when you're spiraling and help you reset
Get reality checks on what's actually urgent vs. what feels urgent
Build momentum from other people working alongside you

why group accountability and body doubling work
Neuroqueer brains often have different* dopamine regulation in regions responsible for attention and motivation. Research shows that social interactions activate dopamine reward pathways — working alongside other people helps your brain function better.*
Body doubling can be effective for initiating and completing tasks for neurodivergent people, as it can help mediate low activation, procrastination, motivation, and emotional dysregulation.
This group helps you build effectiveness and feel competent in yourself. It also holds space for the times when that's just not possible.
who i am
i'm Caryn (they/none), a neuroqueer psychologist and coach. I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression as a child, ADHD in high school, have had several concussions and head injuries, and I experience fatigue and brain fog as a result of Long COVID. In grad school, I learned about diagnostic criteria for Autism and am slowly dipping my toes into what it might mean to identify as AuDHD.
i know what it's like to miss deadlines, freeze when there are too many options, and watch other people move through the world without this constant friction.
As a kid, I constantly heard I was “spacey” or “scattered;” that I would “lose my head if it weren’t screwed on” to my body; that I was “off in Caryn Land.” I lost important items, missed important information, and forgot important tasks.
I spent HOURS doing my homework (when I remembered) just to find out other kids were whizzing through it. I did well in school, but others seemed to be doing so with way less effort.
I failed three classes my freshmen year of college and almost had to drop out. I struggled through undergrad and to this day am not sure how much I really learned, which is such a shame because i LOVE learning!
i built this group because i needed it.
I needed to know that i wasn’t alone in my struggle, that success can look so many different ways, and i didn’t need to endlessly contort myself to fit into the idea of success. I needed a place where neuroqueer people can work on follow-through without having to mask or pretend to be ~normal~. where we acknowledge the systemic barriers and build capacity anyway, in our own way.
I'm not here to help you be more ~productive~ for capitalism's sake. I'm here to help you feel effective and competent in the things that matter to you — and to hold space when that's just not possible.
The work is whatever matters to you. The group gives you the structure and support to actually do it.

Sliding Scale & “Pay-It-Forward”
Sliding scale fees allow me to serve a wider community while maintaining a sustainable practice. When you pay within your means, you help support others who need financial flexibility.
For more information on why I use equitable sliding scales, read here. The basic premise is also summarized well in this excerpt by Alexis J. Cunningfolk below:
“Typically, there is a limited amount of slots for products, services, and classes offered at the middle and lower end of the scale. Please be mindful that if you purchase a price at the lowest end of the scale when you can truthfully afford the higher ticket prices, you are limiting access to those who truly need the gift of financial flexibility. Being honest with yourself and your financial situation when engaging with sliding scale practices grows strong and sustainable communities. It also respects the work of teachers and creators, like myself, you have families to support and rent to pay. Additionally, when I am paid fairly, I am able to invest more time and resources to free and lower cost offerings.”
